Directors/Producers
Ilka V
Drama Director
Ilka is excited to be working on her 5th musical since 2008 with so many of Fundy’s talented students, directors and community members. It is truly rewarding to see the amazing growth in skill and confidence of our students as they work with great dedication to make this show one to remember! Enjoy the magic over (and under) the sea!
Dianna Fast
Artistic Director
This year marks Dianna's 18th year directing musicals at LFMSS. She began when her oldest son was in Grade 7, and both of her sons, Keenan and Brock, went on to perform on the LFMSS stage throughout their high school years while Dianna continued to direct each production. Her involvement didn't end after they graduated, though.
Dianna truly enjoys working with students and watching them grow as performers, developing their skills and confidence over months of rehearsals. Each year, new students join the musical theatre program, and with the support of her dedicated directing team, they consistently come together to deliver an outstanding show every single time.
So why does Dianna continue to give her time and energy to LFMSS? Quite simply, the rewards of teaching, coaching, and directing are incredibly meaningful to her. She loves seeing students form new friendships across grade levels and watching their confidence grow throughout a year of training in rehearsals.
You're going to love this show. The students have poured countless hours into this production, supported by the dedication and hard work of the directing team and crew. Get your tickets—you won't regret spending an evening enjoying a musical production and supporting students as they learn, grow, and shine on stage.
Beth Koyanagi
Vocal Director
Beth has had the privilege of being the vocal director with Fundy musicals since the very beginning, now working her on 8th show. Her heart has always been drawn to Beauty and the Beast because of the music and of course that Library! She is very excited for The Little Mermaid to be shown in all its glory with beautiful vocals, fabulous acting and spectacular sets and tech.
In Beth's words, "This crew of students has worked so hard, and it has been a pleasure to coach them and watch them grow. I would like to truly thank my Assistant Vocal Director, Audrey Loeffler, whose piano excellence and recording skills made all the difference in rehearsing. It was fun to have such a great partner. I am thankful for our directing and production team, many of whom I have enjoyed working with since our very first show. That is what makes doing this so much fun.....getting to do what you love with friends and helping the students shine."
Audrey Loeffler
Assistant Vocal Director
Audrey Loeffler is a singer with the Valley Festival Singers and, while living in California, previously directed theatre for elementary to high school aged students, as well as performing in shows herself. This is Audrey's first show directing with Langley Fundamental, and she is very proud to have worked with this cast on their vocal performances.
Cara Kavanagh
Producer
Diana Dolfo
Choreographer
Back for her 6th musical as choreographer, Diana is excited to be a part of bringing Little Mermaid to life. She’s honoured to work alongside such a talented and dedicated group of students, directors and community.
Colin Jamieson
Producer
Colin has had a love of musical theatre ever since he had his first chance to play in the pit orchestra for Beauty and the Beast at 14. Since then, he has been in over a dozen different productions as a pit musician. For the last musical, Frozen Jr, Colin had the privilege to be the orchestra director and fulfill one of his dreams of being able to lead the music behind the production. Not unlike Frozen, The Little Mermaid marks the start of a new chapter yet again for Colin, one in which he is now the producer. He has enjoyed the challenge and committing himself to a production that means so much to so many. He is incredibly proud of his students, fellow directors, and the numerous parent volunteers who helped make the magic under the sea come to life.
