About

Overview of Program:

Langley Fundamental Middle Secondary boasts one of the most vibrant, inclusive, and successful music programs in the district. With over 1/3 of the school involved in music, we pride ourselves on providing a holistic music education that allows students to explore their passion for playing, singing, composing, and mentoring. Ranging from grade 6-12, the music department is constantly growing and introducing new students to the power of music. Our program includes a wide array of classes, ensembles, and creative endeavours for students including (but not limited to) choirs, jazz bands, concert bands, songwriting, conducting, and student-led mentorship opportunities. Ensembles in the program have received multiple invites to MusicFest Canada, the International Vancouver Jazz Festival and are highly sought after in the community. We also offer music tours for both our junior and senior students, sharing our love of music in places such as Victoria, Kamloops, Disneyland, and New York, to name a few.

Be sure to also check out our musical theatre page, a staple of our culture, excellence, and community at LFMSS.

Philosophy:

With community at the forefront of our philosophy, Titan's Music ensembles have performed locally at charity events, retirement homes, and for the public, in addition to international performances. It is our belief that music is a powerful tool for nurturing, sustaining, and expanding a love of the arts not just within our classroom but out in the world. Teachers in our department understand that music is a vehicle that guides students towards a safe and inclusive space for learning, a place to explore all their passions, and where personal character is developed.
